I read a great empowering book that I would love to share with everyone. If you are looking for some inspiration and something real down to earth to read check out Girl Wash your Face by Rachel Hollis. Rachel Hollis is the founder of the lifestyle website TheChicSite.com and CEO of her own media company.
I normally don’t write book reviews but I thought this would be a great post to add to not just the planner community but the fitness community as well. So needless to say it’s my first book review.
In the book Rachel exposes the twenty lies and misconceptions that too often hold us back from living a productive and great life as people. Each chapter of the book is a different topic that the she experience personally in her life. In the beginning of each chapter it starts off with a lie that she tells herself. She discusses the different struggles she went through and the steps she took to help her get through the struggles. She turned her negative into positive that in turn became lessons learned.
I found myself being able to relate to at least fifteen out of the twenty chapters. She takes us through some of her childhood and the insercuirites she experienced. But yet at the end of it all she end up being successful. This was so inspiring to me because no matter what I experience in my life I can’t let anything stop my goals from being accomplished.
I don’t want to give the book away but some of the lies she talks about in the chapters range from all different life changing. Things that I know we as women can relate to. For example feeling like you are not good at sex or maybe you are not good enough in general. One chapter I know I could relate to is how at times I allow myself to be defined by my weight. Being comfortable in my own skin is my number one issue that I try to work on daily.
My favorite chapter was when she tells her self she needs a drink. She never knew why people needed drinks then she had kids and realize wine is her best friend. Alcohol gave her the courage that she thought she needed to be a parent or to even feel sexy. Alcohol took away all her fear and anxiety. All these emotions in this chapter I was able to relate to. At the end of the chapter, actually ever chapter, she wrote what help her over come the lie. These were great tips that I made note of in my planner.
I appreciate the rawness of her thoughts. It help me realize I’m not alone. It shows me someone who is so successful can still have hang ups like me.
If you are need in some inspiration to finish a book, start a website or even start up your own company. This is a great short read. Enjoy💜
